Teaching philosophy

I have been teaching about different courses (Water Pollution and Solid Waste Management; Wastewater Treatment; Environmental Chemistry and Air Pollution and Control) for the last seven years in Addis Ababa University. I believe that the major aim of education is to teach students how to aware, understand, do, apply knowledge and skill. My teaching philosophy is to provide a classroom environment where students are encouraged to engage their minds in the learning process. In other words, the class room should be learner-centered. I make this by providing creative ideas and inspiring lectures. My objective is to encourage participation in the teaching-learning process and to facilitate learning by encouraging students. I want my students to enjoy the interaction in my classroom and to be challenged by the intellectual discussion of course material.

My goal in teaching is to train students about environmental sciences and make them critical thinkers and problem solvers in the real environmental word. I also strive to support the students to improve their writing skills.
