Brief Biography
Dr. Zelalem Gizachew Tekle is a consultant pediatrics and Strabismus Ophthalmologist at Menelik II Referral Hospital and holds the rank of assistant professor at the School of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University. Following a Medical Doctorate degree from Addis Ababa University, he completed residency training in Ophthalmology at Addis Ababa University. He then went to a hands on subspecialty fellowship training in Pediatrics Ophthalmology and adult Strabismus at Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (in Nepal), Shaare Zedek Medical Center (in Israel) and Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Since returning to Ethiopia, his clinical practice and research have focused on pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus.
At the department of Ophthalmology, Dr Zelalem is engaged in clinical care, research and teaching both medical students and ophthalmology residents also pediatric Cataract Project.
