Brief Biography
Dr Sadik Taju Sherief is the head of department of Ophthalmology, a consultant pediatrics and Strabismus Ophthalmologist at Menelik II Referral Hospital and holds the rank of assistant professor at the School of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University. Following a Medical Doctorate degree from Jimma University, he completed residency training in Ophthalmology at Addis Ababa University. He then went to a hands on subspecialty fellowship training in Pediatrics Ophthalmology and Strabismus at The Hospital for Sick Children’s, Toronto, Canada. Since returning to Ethiopia, his clinical practice and research have focused on pediatric glaucoma, cataract, retinoblastoma, retinopathy of prematurity, Strabismus and as well as other anterior segment abnormalities.
At the department of Ophthalmology, Dr Sadik is also pediatric Cataract Project Coordinator and lead investigator for the National Retinoblastoma guideline of Ethiopia.
