Outreach Community Trainings and Research Sites

Rural community health training program (RCHTP): The RCHTP is based in Batu and it is the main community based training program that the school runs jointly with the SoM for senior undergraduate medical students.  The rural training program has contributed a lot to the students in terms of undertaking appropriate public health measures.

Butajira site: This site is based in Mareko and Meskan districts of the Gurhage zone (SNNPR). It was initiated in 1986 by performing a census of nine randomly selected PAs and one urban dweller. After its establishment, demographic and health surveillance has continued up to the present date. The site is a member of the INDEPTH network and also serves as a research site for postgraduate training at the MSc and doctoral levels.
