The Department is also engaged in research related to the training it offers and in collaboration with other institutes in Ethiopia and abroad over years. In addition to these the DPM together with SPH is highly involved in short term trainings listed below:

• Monitoring and Evaluation of Population, Health and Nutrition Program: An annual workshop for participants coming from Anglophone African countries
• Leadership in Strategic Information Training Program: A workshop held twice a year for participants coming from regional health offices in the country
• Health Research Methodology: A workshop held twice a year for participants coming from regional health offices and universities in the country
