Research and Community Services

In addition to MSc and PhD research projects, the Department has the following collaborative

Research projects: Molecular epidemiology of food-borne pathogens in three eastern African

Countries (Ethiopia, Tanzania and Kenya); Hospital Acquired Infections, an interventional study;

Leishmaniasis project. The department staff has also developed Thematic Research projects on

breast cancer, traumatic fractures and several relevant topics in collaboration with other

departments in CHS including external collaborators.

Facilities for Academic Purposes

  • Offices for staff members located in the School of Medicine Building and a few rooms in the CHS building;
  • Teaching laboratory for undergraduate medical students (shared with the Pathology Department)
  • Research laboratories in the CHS building
