Transport System Development and Road Traffic Safety-based Education up to the Highest Level
Addis Ababa University (AAU) signed memorandum of understanding with the FDRE Ministry of Transport to cooperate in different areas of transport system and road traffic safety based education, at Radisson-BLU Hotel, Addis Ababa, on the 15th of June 2021.
The MoU focuses on collaboration on different activities including research, education, training, consultancy, knowledge and technology transfer in the planning, design, implementation, operation, monitoring and evaluation of transport infrastructure development, transport as well as logistics services.
The Parties agreed to undertake joint research in transport-related fields: quality roads development and management, railways performance improvement, aviation modernization, transformation of the maritime and logistics sector, improving transport safety schemes, enhancing climate resilient infrastructure and transport systems, etc.
According to the agreement, AAU is basically intended to deliver MSc. courses with three flexibility degree/certification options: Master of Science with Thesis, Master of Science without Thesis and Postgraduate Diploma without Thesis/Project on “Road Transport Safety” trends.
As H.E. Mrs. Dagmawit stated during the agreement, the Ministry has recently agreed with Ministry of Education of the FDRE to include Road Safety System Education from pre-school to grade twelve educational curriculum of the country.
This MoU shall operate from the date of signature which remains binding for a period of 5 (Five) years, with a possibility of renewal after expiry by the Parties based on their mutual consent.
H.E. Mrs. Dagmawit Moges, Minister for the FDRE Ministry of Transport on the side of the Ministry and Professor Tassew Weldehanna, President of AAU, on the side of Addis Ababa University signed the agreement today at Radisson-BLU Hotel.
