School of Law hosts moot court competition
The Addis Ababa University School of Law, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), organized a moot court competition on sexual violence in armed conflict from May 11-13, 2017.
Students from eight higher educational institutes participated in this competition which lasted for three days. Among these, Addis Ababa University and Debre Markos University made it to the final.
The final competition was held on May 13, 2017 at Mandela hall. Then, Addis Ababa University beat Debre Markos University to become winner of the competition.
At the end of the competition, head of delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mr. James Reynolds and Dean of the College of Law and Governance studies, Solomon Negusie (Ph.D.), delivered speeches extending gratitude to all participants. They then handed over the medals to the winners. Certificates and books were also presented to the students and supporters of the competition.
This is the second time the competition has been held. The first competition was hosted by Mekele University. Addis Ababa University won the event to represent Ethiopia in a continental competition which took place in Arusha, Tanzania. At this competition, Addis Ababa University finished 3rd from Africa.
