More than 80 undergraduate and postgraduate students drawn from across the colleges and schools of Addis Ababa University were awarded grants by the Chinese Embassy in Addis Ababa at a ceremony held in Ras Mekonnen Hall of the  University.

Speaking during the award ceremony, AAU President , Dr Samuel Kifle , said Ethiopia and China have strong, multidimensional strategic ties , adding Addis Ababa University has been a long standing  institutional partner. Dr Samuel further mentioned that AAU is undertaking various activities to strengthen the partnership with Chinese universities.

For  his part ,  Chinese Ambassador  plenipotentiary to Ethiopia Mr Zhao  Zhiyuan said that AAU is a great institution of higher learning with a proud history , and cooperation with the university would be further enhanced .

During the  assistance award ceremony , the grantees expressed joy and gratitude.

It was disclosed that this academic year a total of 143 students have received similar  financial support from the Chinese Embassy.
