HKU seeks to cooperate with AAU
A delegation led by Professor W. John Kao, Vice President of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) paid AAU a visit on June 6, 2017.
President of the AAU, Prof. Admassu Tsegaye, received the delegates and held talks at his office.
Academic partnerships and joint research were core areas of discussion.
Briefing the delegates, Prof. Admassu reiterated the university’s vision of becoming among the top ten pre- eminent graduate and research universities in Africa by 2025. “AAU needs external professors who can teach courses and examine its Ph.D. students till the university builds its own capacity,” said the President.
Speaking on the occasion, W. John Kao, Vice President of HKU noted that his university is willing to closely work with AAU in capacity building through staff exchange and joint research.
He also indicated that HKU has an extensive experience in community engagement, which the AAU can draw lessons from to drive impacts into the community.
HKU is a public university founded in 1911.
