Addis Ababa Institute of Technology Provides Capacity Building Training
Addis Ababa University’s (AAU’s) Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAiT) ) rendered a five days Capacity Building Training to Burayu Polytechnic College members from August 29 – September 2, 2022 at AAiT Conference room.
Solomon Kiros (PhD), Director of Research, Technology Transfer and Industry Linkage at AAiT, said that after the Institute examined the experience and skills of the Burayu Polytechnic College, it provided a five-day training to enhance the College’s capacity in particular areas that need immediate help.
Dr. Solomon explained that around forty trainees of Burayu Polytechnic College took a laboratory-based training based on need assessment and pre-prepared various modules that were evaluated by different university professors.
Mitikie Molla (PhD), Vice President for the Office Research and Technology Transfer of AAU, in her keynote speech said regarding community participation that universities are creating knowledge that can be reproduced to others in a form of knowledge oriented participation, and Burayu Polytechnic College is one of the beneficiaries of this opportunity.
“Addis Ababa University has done and is working on many projects in cooperation with Entoto Polytechnic College, General Wingate Polytechnic College as well as TEGBAREID Polytechnic College,” Dr. Mitikie added.
She noted that the material support for the Burayu Polytechnic College will continue to be strengthened as far as possible and useful trainings will continue to be provided and necessary follow ups will continue as well.
Ato Jegnaw Gizaw, Mayor of the Burayu City Administration, in his closing remarks said that Addis Ababa University is doing its part to help the Polytechnic College and that the AAiT should be commended for its good work.
As one of the government’s goals is to equip the community with knowledge, skills, and careers, the teachers and administrative staffs of Burayu Polytechnic College are striving hard to achieve this goal, the mayor stated.
