AAU’s Rehabilitation Assistance to Wollo University
Addis Ababa University (AAU) made freight to address rehabilitation assistance to Wollo University (WU) which was deliberately damaged by the TPLF fighters during their invasion to some parts of the Amhara region last year.
At the departure of the freight from 6 Kilo Main Campus on Monday, the 14th of March 2022, Professor Tassew Weldehanna, President of Addis Ababa Universit, gave press release to the local media regarding the support given by AAU to Wollo University.
According to him, AAU has already decided to donate 33 million Birr to WU both in cash and in kind. “Twenty (20) million Birr is in cash and the rest 13 million is in kind. Today’s freight, which is in kind, worth about 7 million and the remaining will be sent on the coming few days,” he added.
As stated by Prof. Tassew, this is AAU’s second rehabilitation support following that of Woldiya University and Woldiya Hospital in the effort to help them reorganized and restructure the institutions, similarly damaged by the TPLF fighting group.
Prof. Tassew addressed other sectors of governmental and nongovernmental organizations to participate in the rehabilitation campaign of these institutions, as by the efforts of AAU and only a few others organization, is impossible to recover all this immense damage.
“Addis Ababa University and other ten (10) local Universities have undertaken the responsibility of rehabilitation of Wollo University,” Prof. Tassew finally recalled.
