Student Career Development Directorate Conducts Career Counseling Training
Addis Ababa University (AAU) Student Career Development Directorate launched training on “Practical Critical Steps of Career Counselling for Career Expertise and Career Focal Person” at Ambassador Hotel on February 9, 2022.
Kassu Jilcha (PhD), Director at Student Career Development, stated that the training was conducted with the aim of developing the knowledge of the counsellors and become proficient. It was also intended to help the students know their true intentions, he added.
“We firmly advise our students to be successful in their future careers and we believe that today’s training will be of great help,” Dr. Kassu insisted.
According to Dr. Kasu, students as well as senior instructors have recently become more aware of the profession of professional career counselling and the practice is making big progressive changes.
The career counsellor will help students choose the department that suits them best and engages them in a career which leads them to successful ending, Dr. Kasu finally stated.
Abera Getachew, a Counselling Psychology Lecturer, on his part said Career Counselling helps learners manage a diverse range of problems like low concentration, poor time management and mistrusted issues with their families and others which career to choose.
Abera encouraged that practitioners with strong background in career management and organizational behaviour/psychology should be generous to give advice to clients concerning work-related issues.
