AAU Signs MoU with Ministry to Devise New Education Program
Addis Ababa University (AAU) signed memorandum of understanding with FDRE Ministry of Mining and Fuel to develop and provide new education scheme, at Sheraton Addis Hotel on 21 Dec. 2020.
The agreement focuses on designing a new curriculum pledges to deliver formal education and short-term trainings to students and expertise striving on mining and fuel sectors.
Professor Tassew Weldehanna, president of AAU, said on the occasion that the University is highly motivated and potentially rich to design practicable curriculum scheme, liaising indigenous skills and modern technology, trusted to arm trainees with the required knowledge and wisdom vital to the country.
Engineer Takele Uma, Minister of Mining and Fuel, stated that the reason why mining resources are not properly used in our country is lack of skilled manpower and modern technology.
According to the Minister, higher education institutions can cultivate this big potential area by conducting intensive trainings and thorough research supported with new technologies and skills.
It is for this sake that the Ministry singed MoU with Addis Ababa University with a belief that it will sensibly use its accumulated knowledge and wisdom to accomplish what our country intends to get from the sector, Engineer Takele added.
There is a view that Ethiopia needs to obliterate the nickname which says, “A poor country sleeps on excessive natural wealth.”
