AAU Signs Internship Scheme to Collaborate BGI-XP Program
Addis Ababa University (AAU) has signed Memorandum of Understanding with BGI Ethiopia to begin BGI-XP internship program in AAU yesterday 20 Oct 2020.
Emebet Mulugeta (PhD), Academic Vice President of AAU, in her welcoming speech addressed that it is possible to succeed our national goals set for the industry sector working together all the way through.
“We want our students of AAU excel in teaching and research by collaborating with the industrial sector,” Dr. Emebet added.
Aklilu Abate and Netsanet Bogale, managers from BGI, said that the BGI-XP internship organizational excellence program is designed for first year university students targeting to select young talents and lay foundation for recruiting brilliant minds to their organization.
The specific purpose of the program is to produce young expertise that gained valuable employability skills, being well aware of BGI’s organizational culture and diverse business functions, the managers explained.
According to the managers, the students who take part in the internship will gain valuable knowledge and skills, self confidence and motivation, opportunities to determine career paths, world-class experience and training, investigative topics for their senior projects, etc.
Based on the information gathered from BGI, the internship program is intended to run for two months (during summer) every year throughout the students’ stay in the university.
