AAU Signs Cooperative Agreement with Genevieve McMillan-Reba Stewart Foundation
Addis Ababa University’s (AAU’s) College of Law and Governance Studies entered into cooperative agreement with Genevieve McMillan-Reba Stewart Foundation to create an endowment fund for female law students with the presence of staff and students of the College at the Main Campus on the 3rd of March 2023.
The US based Genevieve McMillan-Reba Stewart Foundation provided an amount of 115,000 USD funding for the establishment of an endowed scholarship fund for female law students of AAU.
The College agreed to deposit the fund in an interest-bearing bank account so that it annually grants the interest earned from the endowed fund to needy female students.
According to the agreement, the College shall notify the investment customized using the fund and/or utilization of it as well as the recipients of the scholarship to the Foundation annually.
Getachew Assefa (PhD), the Dean of the College of Law and Governance studies, thanked Ato Kibebe Gizaw, the President of McMillan-Stewart Foundation, for the scholarship fund and reiterated that it will be properly used for the intended purposes.
Ato Kibebe on his part said that he was happy for the Foundation being able to support the University’s female law students, and it will try to expand the support in the future.
Education for Ethiopia executive director, Lina Getachew Ayenew-a US 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization-who served as a US sponsor for the transfer of the funding, attended the signing ceremony.
