AAU, Mayor of Washington D.C. holds talk on- mutual benefits
Muriel Bowser, Mayor of Washington D.C. discusses with Addis Ababa University higher officials on yesterday 12th Nov 2019 at the main campus senate Hall.
During her visit she was welcomed by Professor Tasew Woldehanna President of Addis Ababa University and other higher University officials.
In his welcoming speech, President of the AAU, Professor Tassew Woldehanna stated that Addis Ababa University is the biggest and among the top ten Universities in Africa.
He stressed that AAU is not only a graduate University but also Community service and Research University.
“In relation to research, we do have several research grants financially supported by the Ethiopian government. Other research grants on the other hand are financed by collaboration efforts”. Tasew said.
He further said “The highest collaboration we have is with US Universities. Currently we have 52 projects running in collaboration with US Universities. With the assumption of many AAU graduates in Washington D.C. we have a plan to celebrate alumni association there in the capital city.
Muriel Bowser, on her side said, the two sister cities i.e Addis Ababa and Washington DC renew their agreement which was signed before six years ago.
She added that our sister cities agree to keep their promises to support each other on the area of mutual benefits and how they can share their expertise and services in the areas of transportation infrastructure and health care.
At the end AAU and city of Washington reached to work together on areas of economics and health care.
