AAU holds Press Conference on its Global Ranking Scale up
Office of the President of Addis Ababa University (AAU) issued a press statement regarding its regional and international status at the University’s Senate Hall on the 3rd of September 2021.
Professor TassewWeldehanna, President of AAU, in his plenary speech said, the University is constantly contributing its share to scientific and technological knowledge by enhancing its achievements through updating systems based on national and global conditions.
According to Prof. Tassew, Addis Ababa University has granted remarkable achievements in the areas of teaching, research and community service over the past five years. The Institute’s national interest is very encouraging as it is strengthening Ethiopia’s influence in the international arena, he added.
“The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 ranked the largest and most historic Addis Ababa University is 1st in East Africa, 6th in Africa and 402nd in the world,” Prof. Tassew remarked.
According to Prof. Tassew, the contribution of the academic and the administrative staffs and students of the University to the great growth and success of Addis Ababa University in scaling up its continental and global ranks is commendable.
“The current status of Addis Ababa University is important not only for the greatness of the University but also crucial for highlighting Ethiopia’s image in the international arena,” Prof. Tassew finally stated.
Matiwos Ensermu (PhD), Vice President of Administration and Student Service, in his part said, many well-known top research universities use the research and findings of AAU, especially research texts, for their various research projects, making the University one of the largest research institutes in the world.
Mitikie Molla (PhD), Vice President of Research and Technology Transfer, noted that AAU is a member of the Association of African Research Universities and is one of the leading historical universities in other regions of Ethiopia and will strive to improve and assist higher education institutions in the country.
Emebet Mulugeta (PhD), Academic Vice President of Addis Ababa University, said “We are making our PhD and postgraduate students write articles in popular journals in addition to their research papers; we are achieving encouraging results from it.”
