AAU holds Post Graduate Curricula Review for Sugar Industry
Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAiT) of Addis Ababa University (AAU) held a post graduate curricula reviewing workshop in Sugar Industry Sector at Ambassador Hotel on Saturday, 16th of October 2021.
The curricula review focused on MSc in Industrial Control & Automation and MSc in Mechanical (Sugar) Engineering, developed by scholars from AAU, other higher education institutions and Sugar Academy of Ethiopian Sugar Corporation.
Bisrat Dirribsa (PhD), Dean for School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, stated in his opening remark of the workshop that AAU’s experience in preparing related curricula for other public enterprises will play a great role for the sugar and other industries in many ways.
Mr. Gebeyehu Masresha, Sugar Corporation HR Development and Organization Service Head said that about 200 professionals of Sugar Corporation are expected to enrol in the post-graduate degree programs of AAU and other universities tailored for the sector.
According to the information from the workshop, the two new post-graduate (MSc) programs are also going to be reviewed again by professionals of the sector found at the leadership level and members of corporate staff in the coming weeks.
“Sugar Corporation with a vision of executing sugar development activities at a large scale came into existence in October 2010 by the Council of Ministers Regulation No.192/2010 replacing the former Ethiopian Sugar Development Agency.
Accordingly, the Corporation, with a new structure which is believed to efficiently conduct sugar development activities at a large scale in the nation, is now carrying out various activities. ”
