AAU holds National Policy Forum on Education

College of Education and Behavioral Studies of Addis Ababa University held a half day National Policy Forum on Education themed ‘Challenges, Opportunities and the way forward’ on May 4, 2018 at Eshetu Chole Hall.

Various scholarly research papers on the area of education were presented and deliberated on the forum.

In his welcoming speech, President of the AAU, Professor Tassew Woldehanna stated that AAU management is committed to assure the quality of education at all levels. Currently, said Prof. Tassew, AAU is a leading University in East Africa and has gained status of Research University.

Guest of Honor of the forum H.E. Mohammed Ahmedin State Minister of Ministry of Education, disclosed that over the past couple of years the Ministry of Education issued a nationwide program for ensuring quality education in Ethiopia; the Ministry of Education is committed, said the minister, to work with higher education institutions especially the AAU to bring holistic changes in education.

The roadmap for quality education in Ethiopia is designed in line with the national development of the country.

Professor Darge wole in his key note address stated that educational progress can enhance to greater consensus in professionalism. Teacher’s motivation is important and students should be satisfied by the teaching learning progress.

The major areas of research papers presented and discussed on this forum include: Teacher Education in Ethiopia, Educational Leadership and Leadership Development in Ethiopia, Critical issues in Ethiopian Education: Higher Education Student’s Behavior in Perspective; Language and Education in Ethiopia: Literacy in Focus and Education Policy Implementation: Achievements Challenges and the way forward.

In attendants were government officials, members of parliament, Regional Educational Bureau Heads, University Officials and Scholars.
