AAU Gets Global Recognition for Performance in Water Excellence Center
Addis Ababa University (AAU) has received international recognition for its educational and research activities carried out by the Center for Water Excellence; stated in Press Release at the President’s Office today, 21st of January 2022.
Professor Tassew Woldehana, President of AAU, said that the recognition of the University in water education and research programs will make the country more competitive in the water sector and ensures utilization of its water resources.
“Ethiopia can be highly benefited from its rivers by creating a skilled workforce similar to that of Egypt and Sudan, which are known for their Water Excellence in Africa; the University is working harder than ever to do this,” Prof. Tassew stated.
The recognition gained by AAU through its educational and research programs at the Center for Water Excellence will enable the University to produce internationally recognized scholars in the field, according to Prof. Tassew.
As stated in the Press Briefing, AAU has three institutions in the water sector and the World Bank’s Water Excellence Centers is one of them. This Center of Excellence has five Master’s as well as three PhD specialization programs.
It was briefed that the University has 273 Master’s and 112 PhD programs in all its fields of study.
It is recalled that Times Higher Education World University Rankings recently announced that AAU is 402nd in the world, 6th in Africa and 1st in East Africa of the 2022 ranking after evaluating the performance of more than 1,600 universities worldwide.
