Addis Ababa University (AAU) and the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Russia hold talks upon academic and research partnerships on October 16, 2023 at the Academic Vice President Office.
Issaev Leonid, Vice Director at Centre for Stability and Risks Analysis in HSE, said that the meeting is all about direct contacts with AAU in order to establish firm academic and research partnerships with HSE.
Leonid also mentioned that HSE has been conducting a great deal of researches in the fields of economics, engineering, mathematics, humanities, social sciences and particularly on bureaucratic issues.
He said, “African Universities are our centre of attraction. We have huge lack of cooperation and expertise relation with African universities. Currently, Africa has become a leader in terms of intellectual resources in the world and thus we want to have a great number of Russian students in Africa in order to possess African exposure.”
Jeilu Omer (PhD), Academic Vice President of AAU, in his welcoming remarks said that AAU is one of the leading research universities among its African counter parts that runs extensive number of BA/BSc, MA/MSc and PhD degree programmes.
Dr. Jeilu said AAU is in the process of being an autonomous institution and free to go into effective partnerships with the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE).
He made it clear that a large number of Ethiopian students are serving their country after graduating from famous Russian universities with the highest honours based on the educational opportunities they have received abroad.
