A Panel Discussion on Sino- African Cooperation is Held at AAU
Addis Ababa University, College of Business and Economics , organized a half-day Panel Discussion on China-Africa/Ethiopia relations on October 15, 2019 at Eshetu Chole Hall.
The main focus of the panel discussion is on the emerging China/Ethiopia relations and discussions on the current circumstances, opportunities, and challenges of Sino-Ethiopian cooperation in Ethiopian economy, energy, and infrastructure.
Prof. WANG presented a speech on “China’s Overseas Investment and Finance under the Belt and Road Initiative, and Sino-African Economic Cooperation” and Prof. Alemayehu Geda delivered an explanation on “Leveraging the Emerging China-African Economic Relation for Mutual Development”.
Alemu Mekonnen (PhD) , Dean of College of Business and Economics, said in his opening speech, the discussion will build on the momentum previously generated by Sino-African Economic cooperation in general and the Sino-Ethiopia economic relation in particular. “Subsequently it is my strong belief that China and Ethiopia will work together to benefit their cooperation” he emphasized.
Prof. Alemayhu Geda said in his part, the major opportunities of the Sino-Africa economic engagement are improvements in terms of trade and infrastructure construction.
The panel also featured a discussion of scholars from Chinese delegates and Addis Ababa University on Ethiopian economy and Sino-African/Ethiopian cooperation and the two countries mutual benefits.
